Dogface

We all know the military - they love to boost efficiency.

Well, one military scientist was inspired by a classic term applied to soldiers - "dogface". What would be better than a soldier who could also sniff for landmines, listen for distant enemy planes and bombs, and could be fed mere dogfood, and whose obedience could be depended upon?

So, they worked on developing a new nanovirus, one which would change a recruit's DNA to introduce many canine characteristics. After five years of effort, they made a major breakthrough. And so, the new enlisted rank of Dogface was introduced, with an associated officer rank of Alpha Dogface.

It was so successful, the recruits for Project Dogface began to turn up in many different parts of the army, and some new ranks were introduced. Here's a photo of one of the newest recruits - Dogfighter Barrell.

Of course, the military don't like to change their rules too much, so even the dogfaces must be... mostly... cleanshaven. Many choose to leave a few patches of fur in some choice spots, under the reasoning that, as a dogface, the rules should be subtly different. Barrell chose to keep his eyebrows, as well as a small patch just below his lower lip.


The face is pretty obvious, but I thought I'd bring attention to the hand and the tail.
